The Holidays are coming and we have an amazing holiday gift buying "hack" for you! Have you ever cleaned up after all presents have been opened and thought, "I wonder where that stocking stuffer, dog gift, or extra little something is? I don't remember seeing it. Maybe I didn't order it." Ugh!
Maybe you have a big family and have trouble keeping up with what everyone wants or what you ordered for each person? Let us share this little tip we learned from the upper school head librarian where our children attend school. It's wickedly easy and so effective in staying organized during the holidays and beyond.
I saw this in action when we had a drive-by fundraiser at school. People would pull up to each "station", say their name and pick up whatever they ordered. The stations set up were school swag bags, pizza, mums, Chick-fil-A and healthy chicken bowls.
Most people pulled up and said, "I know I ordered something but I can't remember exactly what." The volunteers then looked at their sheet and either handed them what they ordered or sent them to the next station to check the list. Not our librarian! She pulled up and said, "I ordered 1 swag bag, 1 pizza and 2 mums."
I was so impressed I had to know what she knew that nobody else did and she explained this simple trick. Ready?
When you order something online take a screenshot of your order confirmation and save it in a file folder on your phone. Create as many or as few files that help you keep track of your orders. Once you receive your order or once the holiday is over, simply delete the screenshot. You will likely have email confirmation in your in box in case you need to return the gift so this is solely for answering "When did I order? What did I order? Has it been delivered?"
